Waters Addressed Greybull River Background The Greybull River was listed as impaired in 2002, from the confluence with the Big Horn River upstream an undetermined distance. Data submitted by the Meeteetse Conservation District resulted in the listing of the Greybull changing from an undetermined distance upstream, to upstream to the Wyoming Highway 120 Bridge in Meeteetse in 2004. Monitoring Activities The Conservation District initiated E. Coli monitoring on six sites within the district. The district also monitors for a number of other parameters. The district is currently updating and revising the Sampling and Analysis Plan. Planning Based on the results of the districts monitoring, a determination will be made on whether to proceed with a watershed planning effort. Implementation Activities The District assisted the Schlenker Ranch with an animal feeding operation project. This was a pilot project funded , in part, through the Wyoming Association of Conservation Districts section 319 Information/Education project. This project relocated a feeding operation away from the Greybull River. The project was completed in November of 2003. The district continues to promote voluntary conservation efforts aimed at protecting and enhancing water quality. Participants Five landowners, the Greybull Irrigation District and the South Big Horn Conservation District coordinate with the district on water quality assessment efforts.
