Outstanding Elected Official

Legislature, Outstanding
Elected Official; Olin Sims, WACD President.)
The
2003 Outstanding Elected Official of the Year is Jim Hageman of
Fort
Laramie
. Jim has been a very
supportive elected official of not only the three Goshen County
Conservation Districts, but has gone to bat for statewide conservation
issues, programs and projects that provide good conservation for
Wyoming communities. He is
not afraid to stand up for issues he feels will benefit everyone, even
when his is being opposed by individuals and groups against
conservation.
Jim
is a great person to have on the side of conservation districts in
selling our programs and looking out for the resources of
Wyoming
.
He has spent his whole life living on a ranch in a small
community and knows what it takes to keep things moving in a positive
direction for the next generation.
During his career as an elected official, he has tried to help
those communities by representing them to the best of his ability, as
well as doing what’s best for our state and its future.
Jim
is currently serving as the House Ag Committee Chair.
The bills that Jim has sponsored and carried for conservation
and agriculture, and the support he has provided to District issues
are too numerous to mention.
Not
only has Jim dedicated himself to agriculture, he and his wife,
Marion, have raised six children and opened their home to over 30
foster children.
